Greenwich Flying Squadron is a sailing Club affiliated with Sailing NSW and Sailing Australia (SA). This affiliation means GFS is part of the broader sailing community bringing with it many benefits, tangible as well as more abstract. SA holds a Personal Injury Insurance Policy that provides blanket insurance to all current registered Club Members while they are participating in Sailing events organised by the Club. More details on this insurance cover can be found here.
All GFS on water events are conducted in accordance with the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020, rules which are developed and administered by SA. Rule 46 relates to those in charge and crews’ membership of an affiliated sailing Club. Rule 46 allows for a non member to participate in 3 races in any one sailing season. To comply with the Racing Rules of Sailing if a crew member participates in more than 3 events with the GFS during one season their skipper(s) should ensure that crew member becomes a ‘Crew’ member of the GFS. GFS Crew membership forms can be found below on this page, along with advice on the joining process.
Invitations for renewal of GFS Memberships for the 2016-2017 Sailing Season have now been dispatched to member email addresses we have on file.
Click here for full detail on the renewal process or in case members have not kept their email addresses up to date and may therefore not have received the renewal advice.
2016 – 2017 TOPYACHT ONLINE ENTRY SYSTEM
To participate in either Saturday or Twilight racing at GFS you will need to enter your yacht online through the TopYacht Online Entry System. Once registered you will be able to enter events at GFS and other clubs or regattas. You enter your Cat 7 and Insurance as PDF’s (not larger than 2 MB each) and a photo of your yacht (3MB or less). Membership is a requirement and that is accessed above.
If your boat has joint ownership please read this.
New members are very welcome.
To apply to become a new member of Greenwich Flying Squadron please download and complete one of the two following application options:
