It is with great sadness we mourn the sudden death of John David Fennell (09/03/1951 – 04/12/2025) at the Double Bay, Redleaf swimming pool on 4th December 2025.
John had been sailing on Wind Charmer in the GFS twilight racing series for about 9 years. He was a very capable and enthusiastic crew member always happy to help others. He was great company on the boat while racing and then at dinner afterwards with the crew where they solved many of the problems in the world.
Not only was John a keen sailor, but notably he was a keen participant in a number of endurance sports, including long distance bike racing, kayaking and marathon running.
He was also a committed volunteer including many years’ service with NSW Marine Rescue.
John was a very fine person who will be sadly missed by the Wind Charmer crew and by his family and many friends.
We extend our condolences to John’s wife Carolyn, daughters Ali and Georgia and all of his extended family.
A private Remembrance Ceremony was held today (January 06)at The Northern Suburbs Crematorium at North Ryde.
